Oluseye David Awojobi, Ph. D, FCIB, an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School Executive Education (Authentic Leadership Program), is the Registrar/Chief Executive of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He qualified as an Associate Member of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria in 1990 and was elected a fellow of the Institute in 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Banking and Finance, Masters Degree in Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration and Marketing (Entrepreneurship).

He is a seasoned professional banker; an astute scholar; a Life Member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria; Associate Member, Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators as well as that of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).

Dr. Awojobi began his banking career at the National Bank of Nigeria in January 1986 before joining the services of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Lagos Branch in 1996.   He subsequently moved to the National Secretariat of the Institute in 2000, where he rose through the ranks to become the Registrar/Chief Executive in 2015. Prior to his appointment by the Governing Council, Dr. Awojobi had served in notable strategic positions in the Institute including Group Head/Deputy Director, Directorate of Ethics and Professionalism; Group Head, Directorate of Education; Group Head, Directorate of Consultancy, Training and Research; Zonal Coordinator Abuja Zonal Office (Northern Region).

During his career, he has garnered international exposures in the management of professional Banking Institutes from various countries including United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Scotland, Finland, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, India, South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, The Gambia, etc. As Registrar/Chief Executive of CIBN, he also serves as the Secretary, Bankers’ Committee Subcommittee on Ethics and Professionalism for the Nigerian Banking industry and the Industry’s Financial Ombudsman services.

Dr. Awojobi, is a trainer and consultant of repute. He has consulted for several organisations and banks both locally and internationally in the areas of People, Systems and Strategy, etc. He also consulted for the Federal Government of Nigeria/ European Union (FGN/EU) on State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS) assessment.

He is a member the Human Capital Development and Information Communication Technology Consultancy Committee of the FSS 2020 Project of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Dr. Awojobi was recently elected Chairman of the Alliance of African Institutes of Bankers. He was also instrumental to the election of Abuja, Nigeria as the Permanent Secretariat of the Alliance.

Dr. Awojobi successfully coordinated the formation and inauguration of the Global Banking Education Standards Board (GBEStB) as a member of the global taskforce charged with this assignment. He was also elected a member of the nine-member Education Committee of the GBEStB.

He currently serves on the board of various institutions including the Institute of Directors, Center for Corporate Governance, Center for Microenterprise Development, etc.,
