Courtesy Visit to the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Mr. Bello Mahmud

The Corporate Affairs Commission as a key partner of the Centre hosted the Board of Governors Meeting of IoD Centre for Corporate Governance in Abuja on June 28, 2017. The Board used the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Registrar General of the Commission, Mr Bello Mahmud. The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Chief (Mrs) Eniola Fadayomi in her opening remarks thank the Commission for the support given to the Centre over the years.
She reiterated the fact that corporate governance has continued to gain increasing global recognition and prominence as the key factor for economic growth and sustainability of organisations and businesses and that CAC, given its statutory role, is one of the key organisations in not only entrenching sound corporate governance but also in the enforcement of same. The Commission has demonstrated its commitment to deepening the understanding of corporate governance within its workforce by engaging the Centre to train its directors’ cadre. The Registrar General in his remarks thanks the Board for the visit and re-assures the Centre and the Institute of Directors of its continuing support. He gave recognition of the various achievements and the Centre’s position as a key voice in corporate governance and the corporate governance community is gradually gaining recognition.
The IoDCCG team was lead by the Chairman, Board of Governors Chief (Mrs) Eniola Fadayomi and also on the team is Mr Samuel Akeju, the President of IoD Nigeria who also commented on the various other links between the IoD and CAC, and that more personal and institutional recognition will be given to the Registrar General as a member of the IoD Nigeria and also the directors.
On the IoDCCG team are: Mr Edward Okolo and Mrs Mary Uduk, both are representatives of the Security of Exchange Commission (SEC) on the Board; Hajia Saratu Shafii and Lady Azuka Azinge, both Directors at CAC and represent the CAC on the Board of IoDCCG; Dr. Nechi Ezeako, the ED and Mr. Olusegun Sotola the Head of Research & Publications.
