Board Evaluation Capacity Building Workshop (Collaboration with the International Finance Corporation) – Oct 20-21 2016.
Venue: Eko Hotel, Victoria Island.
This training was designed to examine in detail the fundamental issues underpinning evaluation exercise and the critical performance factors that determine a successful Board evaluation. The training was designed and taught by IFC and hosted by IoDCCG based on the observation of a capacity gap in Board evaluation especially given that most companies in Nigeria have started to conduct some form of Board Evaluation, which comes from the emphasis placed on the performance of Board by the applicable codes of corporate governance.
The training was based on IFC’s Corporate Governance Assessment Methodology. In addition to presentations by IFC’s Corporate Governance professionals, case studies and hypothetical scenarios were used extensively throughout the course. The Facilitators were: Chinyere Almona and Rose Lumumba. The Module covered include: Board Evaluation concept, History, international standard and types; planning and managing the Board evaluation process; Chairman and CEO evaluations, post board evaluation considerations and practice sessions.
